The brief
A whole property with a long list of things to control: television in more than one room, music, heating, lighting and blinds. The ask was to reach all of it the same way, from wherever you happen to be standing, rather than a different app or handset in every room.
What we created
The first AVA installation in Jersey. A rack-mounted AVA processor runs the property, an HD Anywhere video matrix carries Sky and Apple TV to the rooms that want them, and an AVA Cinema remote puts Sonos, heating, lighting and shading on a single handset, room by room.
One brain, and you never see it
The AVA processor is rack-mounted and centralised, which is the whole point of doing it this way. Every source, every zone and every piece of control logic lives in one cupboard rather than being scattered around the house in boxes on shelves. The rooms get screens, speakers and a handset, and nothing else.
Sky in more than one room, without more than one rack
An HD Anywhere video matrix sits between the sources and the televisions, so a Sky master box, a Sky mini and an Apple TV can appear on any screen in the property. Nobody is walking a set-top box from room to room, and nobody has a stack of hardware under a wall-mounted television.
One handset for the whole house
The AVA Cinema remote is the single point of control the property is built around. Sonos audio, heating, lighting and shading are all reachable from it, in every room, laid out the same way each time. The test of a system like this is whether a guest can work it without being shown, and that is the standard it was set up to.
First of its kind on the island
This was the first AVA install in Jersey, which matters mainly because it means the person who designed and fitted it is also the person who supports it. Halo is a certified AVA Pro Installer, and there was no local precedent to lean on when this one went in.
