Blakes King Street
The brief
Blakes runs as two venues in one room: brunch and lunch through the day, cocktails and wine at night. It needed sound that could change character with the room, cameras it could rely on, and a network steady enough to carry both.
What we created
The WiFi and cabling went in first, then cameras inside and over the alfresco tables, then a Sonos multi-room system driving wall-mounted Monitor Audio Bronze 7G speakers. One venue, one connection, and sound that lifts from background to evening without anyone going near a rack.
The network came first
Most of what a venue calls a technology problem turns out to be a network problem in disguise. So the WiFi and structured cabling went in before anything else, sized for a building where the cameras, the music and the daily running of a busy bistro all lean on the same connection. Get that layer right and everything above it stays uneventful, which is exactly what you want in a room full of paying customers.
Sound that changes with the room
A bistro at eleven in the morning and a cocktail bar at nine at night are not the same room, and they should not sound the same. Sonos multi-room means the level and the playlist move with the day, zone by zone, from a phone behind the bar. No engineer, no laptop, no ladder.
Speakers on the wall, not in the ceiling
The Monitor Audio Bronze 7G cabinets are wall-mounted, above head height and spread through the room. In a finished interior of marble, brass and timber that leaves the ceiling alone. It also means the sound arrives evenly at every table, rather than being loud under one speaker and thin between them.
Cameras that stay out of the way
Coverage inside the room and over the alfresco tables on King Street, running on the same network as everything else and viewable from a phone. Discreet enough that most people eating there will never notice them.
